A small rubber drain is secured in the cavity when continued drainage is expected, and a 24-to-48-hour appointment is scheduled before you leave for the drain to be removed.

Amoxicillin or clindamycin per ADA guidance

When systemic signs are present, empirical oral antibiotics — amoxicillin first-line, or clindamycin for penicillin-allergic patients — are prescribed in line with current ADA recommendations.

6.
