About Dr. Akkineni

Dr. Sowmya Akkineni earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from GITAM Dental College and Hospital in Visakhapatnam, India, before pursuing advanced training in the United States. Dr. Akkineni then completed a Master of Science in Dentistry and an Orofacial Pain Residency at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in Newark, New Jersey, serving as Chief Resident, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. Dr. Akkineni is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered dental care with an emphasis on preventive and restorative dentistry. In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Akkineni has advanced training in the diagnosis and management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), facial pain, and sleep-related conditions, and has worked closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver individualized care across a wide range of dental procedures. A committed lifelong learner, Dr. Akkineni actively participates in continuing education courses and professional meetings to stay current with the latest advances in dentistry. Outside the office, Dr. Akkineni enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new places.
