Replace Lost Teeth – Permanently!
Have you lost a tooth? Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics can permanently replace one or more of your missing teeth with dental implants. A dental implant is a small man-made titanium fixture that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. Implants can be used to:
- Replace a single lost tooth
- Replace several missing teeth
- Replace a large number of missing teeth (full arch fixed bridge implant)
- Anchor removable dentures (mini implants)
Implants have been around for decades, and they are the most natural option available today to restore your smile!
The Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are often preferred over removable dentures and traditional types of bridges. Some of the reasons include:
- They look, feel and function like natural teeth.
- They are permanent and meant to last a lifetime.
- They have a proven clinical history (more than 20 years).
- They preserve the integrity of the facial structure.
- They require nothing more than normal brushing and flossing.
Once the implant has been placed, patients are able to live normally, eat normally, and brush normally. It’s as if their own tooth has been restored!

Getting a Dental Implant
Dental implants require a few appointments spread over several months. Two of those appointments involve oral surgery, and the final appointments allow the dentist to create and place the prosthetic tooth.
- Step 1: Implant Placement – The surgeon places a metal post into the jaw so that it can bond with the bone. This generally requires two separate appointments – one to prepare the jaw, and one to place the implant.
- Step 2: Healing time – After surgery, the patient takes time to heal. This process can take anywhere from six to 12 weeks. Partial dentures can be worn during this time to cover the implant.
- Step 3: New tooth – Once the post and jaw have fused together, the dentist creates and places the prosthetic tooth. This procedure involves simply screwing or cementing the new tooth onto the post.
Do Dental Implants Hurt?
Most patients report very little discomfort from the procedures. In fact, many patients report that the surgeries involve less pain than a tooth extraction!
Rodeo Dental does understand that many patients still feel nervous about getting dental implants. So we have a number of options available to help them feel completely at ease. One of our most requested options is sedation dentistry, with a very popular choice being IV sedation (patients can have no memory at all of the procedures). We also offer DentalVibe to completely eliminate pain from shots.
Paying for Dental Implants
Dental implants can be expensive and they are often not covered by insurance. Some insurance plans do cover the procedure, however, and it is also worth checking to see if your insurance will cover the cost of the prosthetic tooth. Other options for paying for your implants include a Flexible Spending Account (dental implants are usually considered eligible) or payment plans under widely accessible programs like CareCredit™.
